Volcom Surf Contest - California

We were already in San Clemente, when our long time friend Igor Lumertz, a big rider from our home break in Brazil and who lived in Hawaii for 10 years and now lives in Oceanside, California called us to say he had enrolled Makaha and Kalani in their 1st Surf Contest: Volcom Surf Contest at Oceanside Harbor, California.

So, there we went again to Oceanside for Makaha and Kalani's 1st Surf Contest!

The day of the event was a rainy and cold winter's day in California. But it was so excited! Makaha was the first one to get into the water on the second heat at the quarterfinals of the Squids division (10 years and under). Kalani was on the third heat.

Kalani finished the quarterfinals in 4th place and Makaha in 6th place. Their scores weren't enough to go on to the semi-finals, even though we all celebrate this epic moment of their lives! And very especial for Mom and Dad too!

In the final California Ranking, from 135 competitors in the Squids division, Makaha is now in 99th place with 185 points and Kalani in 67th with 387 points.

Mahalo Hawaii

Mahalo is the Hawaiian word for Thank you! And we have a lot to thank Hawaii for! The people we've met, the beautiful places we've been, the unforgettable surfing, the vibe!

We spent our last day in Hawaii having fun in Waikiki! Waikiki is all about fun!

Waikiki Beach, where the waves are gentle, is the ideal spot for beginners. But it was once surfed only by Hawaiian royals.

Enjoying the sunset at Waikiki Beach - amazing!

And to close our stay in Hawaii in a great style, nothing better than a Luau and Hula show at the beach!

All guests are traditionally welcomed with a Hawaiian Shell Lei. The sounding of the conch shell announces the beginning of the evening's festivities!

No Luau would be complete without the swaying hips and graceful hand motions of the Hula. The dancers tell beautiful stories of love and life in old Hawaii.

Mahalo Hawaii!!! We'll be back!!

Aloha!

Last day on North Shore

It´s time to say good-bye to the beautiful North Shore, the world's most famous surf zone. A magical place! No, this is not a good-bye... It´s definitely only a see you later!

Visiting Dole "Pineapple" Plantation

Hawaii is really fun! There´s lots of things to see and to do. We´ve got the spirit and have done some "fake" tattoos. Kalani has got a red Hammerhead shark and Makaha got a blue wave!

A must-see destination on Oahu is Dole Plantation, the home of the Pineapple Garden Maze, the World's Largest Maze according to The Guinness Book of World Records 2001, with 1.7 miles of paths.
